BLUE 1 (10th).
A long and difficult starting par 4, with a blind drive over the heather and some rhododendron bushes, to a downhill fairway which slopes left to right. The rough and the trees catch anything hit too far left and the second shot is much more difficult from this side. The ideal line is to the left of the lone large pine tree you can see in the distance on the right. After driving you are faced with a steep heather bank and bunker where the fairway narrows and a large deep bunker 20 yards further on the right side. If the drive is not long enough it is better to lay up short of these hazards as there is another bank to the left of the deep bunker. The green is very large and two tier with a steep slope running left to right down its centre. Regardless of the pin position the shot to the green should be aimed left of the flag as the contours will tend to throw the ball to the right. Two bunkers flank the right side of the green which is generally regarded as one of the most difficult on the course, especially if your ball is on the wrong level.
