BLUE 9 (18th).
The drive from an elevated tee must be hit straight at or over the bank that slopes right to left and at right angles across the fairway. Anything too far left may catch a semi-hidden bunker at that end of the bank, too far right leaves, at best, a blind second shot or you may be blocked out altogether. There is also another bunker set into the right hand side of the bank. The large 18th green (to the right of the 9th) is set well above the level of the fairway, often requiring more club to get aboard than you would think. The green slopes from right to left and again the bottom of the flag is not visible from the fairway so note its position before you tee off the 10th. The green is guarded left and behind by long bunkers and anything to the right of the pin will leave a fast downhill putt across some very subtle borrows. A two putt par (or better!) here is a very satisfying way to finish a round at St Georges Hill.
