Ideally the drive should be hit slightly right of centre into the valley of the fairway. From the tee you cannot see the two fairway bunkers alongside the (out of bounds) lake on the left, waiting to catch any drive hit that way. The right side looks open but the rough is usually quite thick and makes the second shot very difficult to get onto the green, even with a lofted club. Regardless of the tee used, the second shot is always uphill to the large green which slopes sharply from back right to front left. The bottom of the flag cannot be seen from the fairway so look at its position before teeing off the 1st or 10th. The left half of the green is very well guarded by a heather covered knoll whilst anything short and right is liable to run back down to the bottom of the steep slope. Once on the green you will still have a lot of work to do unless you are immediately below the hole. The slope means that the borrows can be significant and anything above the pin needs very careful attention, especially in the summertime, if you want to stay on the green for your next putt
