As Captain for the year 2020-21, I would like to extend to you all the warmest of welcomes to St George’s Hill Golf Club.
Memorable golf courses are designed for the enjoyment of players of all abilities, and this was particularly important to Harry Colt, the course architect. When playing any course, it is important that golfers have fond memories of their experience whilst at the same time enjoying the test of golf. This is true of St George’s Hill Golf Club and it continues to be one of the most challenging and enjoyable courses in Surrey.
The Red, Blue and Green nines offer distinctly different challenges, testimony to the original design where each hole has features which are visually captivating, but all testing a golfer’s ability.
2020 has been an extremely difficult year for so many people as we continue to battle an unprecedented Pandemic. Golf has played its part by allowing our members and guests the exercise and camaraderie of friends in a safe environment. Our golf course has never been in better condition, it really is truly spectacular.
We invite you to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view from our Clubhouse, where the starting holes of each nine can be seen along with far reaching views over the surrounding countryside. The Club’s friendly staff will welcome you on your return with a variety of refreshments.
Our Members are very proud and privileged to enjoy one of the top rated courses in the United Kingdom – please take a few moments to view the video on this website, which will give you more information.
The numerous comments and feedback we receive bear testament to the fact that many people who come for the first time will wish to come again. Once you have sampled the delights of the Club, we are sure that you will wish to return to enjoy the experience again.

We are very proud to have as a Member the current Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, Clive Edginton. Clive played in his year as Captain on 20th September 2019 in the traditional Autumn Meeting Medal where he returned a gross 80, less his 8 handicap, net 72 – what a way to start his year. He has been a Member of St George’s Hill since 1960 and was our Club Captain in 1988/9.
Due to the disruption caused by the pandemic Covid – 19, we are delighted that Clive will continue as R&A Captain for an additional year. It is only the second occasion since 1754 that a Captain has served two successive terms. The Past Captains of the Club nominated Mr Edginton to continue as Captain for another year from September 2020.
